About Burlesque
Owned by Stuart Nicholson and Dave Coltherd, Burlesque is a creative and passionate hair company, with 3 contemporary salons across South East Wales.
Our Art Team, photo studios and training academy are highly regarded within the industry, and are used frequently by companies like ghd (for whom we are the official training academy for Wales) and Goldwell.
Our seminars, events, cutting demos and photo shoots have been featured in national hair magazines like Hair Magazine and Your Hair. In 2007 we were Goldwell Trend Zoom Award finalists, and 2008 saw us nominated for the Global Salon Business Awards.
Stuart
I have been cutting and styling hair for around 25 years and have been with Burlesque since we opened in 1983. I took over the business in 1988 when we were a single salon operation. My plan was always to grow the business by developing and investing in our in-house talent. In recent years I was asked to launch the ghd training academy for Wales, and have most recently picked up trophies in the Welsh Hairdressing Championships.
Dave
I joined Burlesque as a junior stylist when I was 16. In some ways I am a product of the time Burlesque invests in its staff, having moved through the ranks, becoming Stylist, Senior Stylist, Artistic Director and finally Director/ Partner in the business. On the way I won Welsh Hairdresser of the Year 2001/2002, and founded the Burlesque Art Team who are doing the amazing work for the photo shoots we regularly produce today.
